Skincare tips for the festive season
Pamper your skin during this busiest time of the year!
December is the month of year-end parties, socializing and celebrations. This is the time when you will need to take special care of your skin, so that you can attend events and take lots of beautiful photos with confidence, right? In addition, with the intensity of party diet and late nights out, our skin also needs that extra love.
Here are some skin care tips during the festive season that you need to keep in your pocket for the last month of the year!
1. Always clean your face before going to sleep.
Everyone has been in the same scenario: arriving at home late after a party and going straight to sleep. This is however extremely harmful to your skin. Make sure you always remove your makeup and wash your face thoroughly before going to bed. I like double cleansing my face before going to bed, no matter how late it might be.
2. Use a face steamer
Currently, there are many affordable facial steamer products that you can try out at home. Steaming your face is especially important if you are in need of a deep clean after constantly applying heavy makeup for year-end parties. The hot steam will help soften the skin, open the pores so that skincare products are absorbed more effectively.
3. Avoid popping acne
Tomorrow, there is a year-end party at the company, but you have a big pimple on your forehead just the night before. It’s frustrating, isn’t it? However, the most important thing here is to avoid squeezingthe pimple, because this will irritate the skin even more. Apply acne products at night and wait patiently for the blemish to dry out and shrink. See more of my acne skincare products here.
4. Exfoliate regularly
The dry, wintery weather can flake up your skin. It’s difficult to cover up these dry patches with make-up. I highly recommend exfoliating 2-3 times per week with products containing BHA/AHA to remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin smoother and softer afterwards. If you have sensitive skin, you can also try exfoliating recipes from natural recipes such as brown sugar, honey, coffee, etc.
5. Facial massage
The foods and drinks at parties tend to make our face feel more bloated, mainly due to salt and alcohols. A soothing facial massage has become my daily routine to reduce bloatedness, as well as to feel more relaxed and calming. You can use your hands like me, or buy a face roller specifically for facial massage.
6. Use more heavy-duty products
This is the time when we should use more concentrated products to nourish the skin. For example, you can replace your daily moisturizer with a thicker moisturizer, apply masks more often, add 1-2 drops of serum to your foundation for a long-lasting makeup. Moisturizing should be the top priority for our skin during this time.
7. Drink enough water and get enough sleep
No matter how busy you are at the end of the year, try to keep the habit of drinking at least 2 liters of water a day and sleep well. Without these two elements, our skin will not keep its smooth, healthy glow no matter how carefully we take care of it.
