For the first time in its history, Gucci presents a capsule collection in collaboration with a K-pop star: Kai x Gucci.
Exo’s Kai is no stranger to Gucci. The “Human Gucci” is the nickname fans favorably give Kai for his loyalty to Alessandro Michele’s designs. Now, that relationship has taken a step further with a recently launched capsule collection: Kai x Gucci.
Kai’s inspiration for this collection is a toy he and many of us grew up with: the teddy bear. The blue-bowed teddy bear motif is a reference to both Kai’s childhood and his spirit animal. In an interview, Kai explains his choice of combining the teddy bear patterns with a luxury brand as Gucci – “The teddy bear brings a nostalgic feeling for the collection so it will make the luxury items more relatable.” He also points out the collection is suitable for all ages.
I was thrilled to be one of the first fashionistas in Vietnam to try on this collection. The design of this collection is adorable and super easy to wear. I am especially impressed with the cross-body bag and the bucket hat from the collection. “Nerdy but on trend” was the first thing that came to my mind when I tried them on. Besides, the cute teddy bear motif on every item reminds me of the good old days of my childhood.
The capsule collection Kai x Gucci will be available in all Gucci stores throughout Vietnam from April 16, 2021.
