6 simple ways for you to have radiant skin
No need for over-sophisticated products or skincare routines!
The concept of “radiant skin”, “glowing skin” has probably become quite familiar to skincare lovers out there. It’s also desirable for women as the no make-up make-up trend became popular for the last few years. So what’s the secret for the glow?
For me personally, here’re the 6 basic steps within my routine that works wonder for my skin.
1. Cleanse
Keeping your skin clean is the first and arguably most important step in your skincare routine. With external factors such as polluted air, makeup products, dust on your beddings, pores can easily be clogged, causing acne. Therefore, I try to clean at least twice a day, usually with double-cleansing, which means removing makeup with oil-based products first and then washing my face with a gentle cleanser.
My skin is quite sensitive, so I choose very gentle products for cleansing. When washing your face, do not rub too hard, but gently massage your skin for about 3-5 minutes in upward circular motions.
2. Exfoliate
About 2-3 times a week, I exfoliate to remove dead skin cells on my face. This helps to smoothen out my skin texture as well as to deep clean my pores. You can choose between a physical or a chemical exfoliator, depending on your skin condition.
When choosing exfoliating products, pay attention to choose products with AHA/BHA, to be able to clean deep in the pores.
3. Choose your serum wisely
Serums are the superheroes of skincare routines, in my opinion. There’s a serum to solve every single skin issues, from large pores, acne, blackheads/whiteheads, to wrinkles.
I usually include retinol and Vitamin C in my serums. Vitamin C works to make skin brighter, healthier, by attacking free radicals that are age your skin. Retinol is a type of Vitamin A that works to increase the production of new skin cells and collagen, making the skin smooth, and glowy. 4. Moisturize
To keep the skin supple and smooth, it is essential to moisturize the skin. The first step, DRINK ENOUGH WATER! If you don’t drink enough water every day, moisturizers will only solve the symptoms, not the root problem.
Skincare products containing hyaluronic acid help lock in moisture very effectively, so this is the ingredient you should look for when moisturizing your skin. I also often apply avocado, honey, yogurt masks to lift up my skin when it feels dull and tired.
5. Apply sunscreen
No matter how often you use skincare, if you forget to apply sunscreen every day, then it’s all for nothing! SPF in sunscreen is a layer of protection for our skin from the harmful effects of UV rays that cause premature aging of the skin, in addition to avoiding skin diseases including skin cancer. Therefore, I always carry sunscreen in my bag, so that I can reapply after 3-4 hours in the sun.
6. Change your diet and exercise
You can take vitamins, and supplementary collagen for your skin. For me, the most important thing is to eat clean to keep me healthy from the inside. Eating a lot of vegetables and fibers, cutting out sugar and harmful fats, walking and exercising regularly… are simple activities anyone can start doing right now to have healthier skin.
